Did you ever see the episode of Penn & Teller’s Bullshit that dealt with recycling? They first demonstrated that people would put up with any sort of recycling regiment they came up with including having ten individual bins for pretty much everything, then they went about trying to prove that recycling a pop can took more energy and materials than just making a new one.
Not sure if I fully believe in all their arguments but it’s worth checking out.
That episode is sweet. Just watching it now. The many recycling bins is very similar to Germany. It’s just hilarious how much sorting they do in that country.
