I’ve tried it that way and I don’t like it. I don’t think one way is fundamentally easier than the other, it’s all about preference.

I was taught to open banana’s the ‘human’ way as a child. Could never get it right though, I would always mush the tip i was opening. Then one day after seeing monkeys eating bananas on TV I decided to do it their way.
Not only are they smarter than us they are teaching some of us too… :S

I don’t think there is one ‘way’ that monkeys eat bananas. I’ve seen then bite into the peel in the middle of the banana and pry it off and kind of just roll the banana out. I think they just want to eat the banana and don’t really care how the banana is opened. Sorry – this is just kind of a pet peeve or something. I’ve heard the monkeys-eat-bananas thing from several people over the last few years and I think it’s the equivalent of an urban myth/wives tale… But I do enjoy the comics – thanks!

I don’t see the big thing about that, I mean, I peel the banana from the end since I have memory, this way is exactly the same only that you rotate the banana 180

No, Zequez, here in the U.S. we don’t use a knife, or at least I don’t know, and have never known, of anyone who does. Just peel it the regular way. Simple. Maybe modern apes have their own ways. I dunno and `who cares’… I , too, don’t see what’s the big deal here…

This can also be used as a response to that video with Kirk Cameron peeling a banana, saying it’s the “Atheist’s Nightmare” or something. It’s on Youtube, but I’m too lazy to search for it now. Too busy eating bananas.

I saw that video 6 months ago and have been opening mine the ape way ever since.
