Never ceases to amaze me how limited the “scientific” investigation of prayer is. “Yep we interviewed a few people and measured a bit of stuff and we sure didn’t see anything.” Kinda tried to ignore the testimonies of people who claim significant miracles.
Repeatable observations work when the action derives from a physical law. Repeatable observations are nonsenses when a personal choice is involved. Asking if you can measure the “effects” of prayer ignore the whole context of Christian prayer – to a personal choosing God. A sensible research would be historical – is there actual evidence for a claimed miracle? That would be worth investigation.

Always worthwhile to listen to Hitchens in interviews… and elsewhere.
