Well, THIS was a bit of cognitive dissonance. Among science-fiction fans, a “Guide to the Con” is a 1-sheet synopsis for newbies attending their first SF convention (known for short, and ubiquitously, as a “con”); it doesn’t refer to swindles (AKA confidence games or con games).
