In my continued reading of Joel Osteen’s religion self-help book Your Best Life Now, I couldn’t get over how patronizing and condescending it is.

With such trite statements directed at the reader as “It’s okay to be you!” or “Quit expecting to fail. Start believing that you are going to succeed.” The latter one is—ironically—from the chapter about improving your self-image.

In this comic, Mark has that same mistaken sense of superiority.
